The STAR Grand Finale Video will be on display from December 20th, 2023 to January 3, 2024

Originally created and aired in 2021.

In this hilarious and touching video, the Wakefield Puppets share a little bit about the people, places, pets, causes and more that were honoured with STAR Cards and why saying thank you matters.

Despite having to shut down one week early due to the pandemic, the STAR project lite up our community, the Kaffé and our hearts raising $5005.00 for the Wakefield Community Emergency Fund. Organizers of the STAR project are blown away and deeply moved by the deep generosity from this community.

What is STAR?

STAR is a fundraiser for the Wakefield Community Emergency Fund, a community art project and a celebration of the person in your life who gave you a hand when you needed it the most.

The Wakefield Community Emergency Fund has been there to bring hope and relief to local families facing emergencies in the Wakefield Community. That hope and relief has helped to change the course of people’s lives. Many of us are lucky enough to know that moment – the act of kindness that lifted you up, the generosity that helped you heal – sharing our stories is a great way to inspire communities that value it.

Purchase an artist’s hand-made STAR ornament at Kaffé 1870 and fill out the STAR CARD, where you can share a little bit about your story and the person who helped you out when you needed it the most.

STAR CARDS will hang in the place of the ornament you have purchased and taken home.

You can also donate any amount of your choice and fill out a STAR CARD if you just want to give and share your story. We’ll hang those up with honour as well!

Kaffé 1870 patrons will be invited to read the cards over the month of December and some stories will make their way into future tributes that we’ll share live and online with communities here and everywhere.

This fundraiser, community art-making project and celebration of the star in your life happens for the entire month of December 2021 at Kaffé 1870.

All star ornaments have been generously donated by an artist, known to Wakefield, who wishes to remain anonymous. All financial proceeds and donations go to the Wakefield Community Emergency Fund. All stories may end up in STO Union future projects.
